Ty Stephens is a Philadelphia-born, New York-based R&B and Jazz singer and songwriter. He has been on the New York club scene since the early 1980s, while appearing on Broadway in the original companies of Sophisticated Ladies and Marilyn: an American Fable, and Off-Broadway in Shades of Harlem, which he co-wrote, choreographed, and costumed.. He has shared the stage and recorded with such varied notables as Harry Belafonte, Phyllis Hyman, Gregory Hines, The Commodores, Eartha Kitt, Allyson Williams, Cheryl "Pepsi" Riley, Smokey Robinson, Patti Austin, Jeffrey Osborne, Dick Hyman, Toshi Kubota, Baba Olatunji, Nile Rodgers and Whoopi Goldberg. Ty and his band Romantasy have been opening acts for Angela Bofill, Vanessa Rubin and Larry Coryell. He recently released his second CD entitled "Deeper In Fantasy" which contains 11 original R&B and Jazz-oriented compositions that Ty co-produced with Joe Scott, who has toured and recorded with Lauren Hill, Chico DeBarge, Hammer, Boyz II Men and Black Street.
