TERRY RAY (Director) Terry Ray is an actor - writer - producer, but one of his favorite hyphenates is director. Ray’s career includes over 120 plays and musicals and more than 70 film and television credits. A student of directing at the University of Cincinnati and Conservatory, his favorite directing credits include two productions at the venerable Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles that he also wrote: Hollywood Goes Classical with a beyond his wildest dreams cast that included Mickey Rooney, Dean Jones, Rhonda Fleming, Dee Wallace, Brock Peters, Michael York, Jeffrey Jones and Michael Ansara, and Hilary Duff’s Holiday Show starring, surprise… Hilary Duff. Terry has a niche and long history of directing older stars in shows which include Loni Anderson, Juliet Mills, Ted Lange, Kathy Garver, Butch Patrick, Jon Provst, Darby Hinton, Alexandra Paul and Johnny Whitaker. But Ray’s most “challenging” directing assignment was at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center where he directed a cast of adults along with 53 nine-year old children (all with speaking roles) in a musical version of Cinderella. His quote; “If I wasn’t bald already, that one would have done it.” Terry has also directed several award winning TV and film projects. Ray is the CoFounder and Managing Director of The Bent Theater in Palm Springs that launched in December to rave reviews and sold out performances with the premiere of his play The Lincoln Debate. A former student himself of Charles Nelson Reilly, Ray is the acting teacher at the Palm Springs branch of the famed Actor’s Lab. His multiple award winning play Electricity has played in various cities across the country, including a record breaking 4-year run in Palm Springs and is soon headed Off-Broadway.
