Kenneth Helphand is Philip H. Knight Professor of Landscape Architecture Emeritus. He began teaching at the UO in 1974. Helphand is an award winning scholar whose work explores the contemporary American Landscape. Today’s talk addresses the history and significance of parks in the United States. It tells this through the story of a town which is fictional, but is a composite of places, mostly in the American West, including Eugene.
